IMO, your current option is the most sane. It's the same approach taken in DBIx::Class for any of its DB backends -- you need to set DSN, username and password env vars for them to run. I've done the same...

I specifically don't want to create a Trash Patrol to start taking actions for other people. Even in taking over namespaces, which doesn't affect the old author's directory, PAUSE admins are very cautious.

hassledemailed TOKUHIROM, and he emailed me back saying he's scheduled 963 for deletion. You should add RJBS's 635 to your running total as well. -
