    You bring up a very good point, that the distinction between "permissive" and "copy-left" style licenses is not nearly as important with interpreted languages as it is with compiled. However, a lot of companies do not allow any GPL type...

    My employers for the last 10+ years have had policies against AGPL, but most recently I have seen GPL moved from the "okay" list to the "must get approval" column.

    My current employer has the best license tracking I have ever experienced. We have a separate monorepo (it wouldn't be a monorepo if there weren't actually a lot of them, right?) with everything external imported there. The commit hooks for that repo require a metadata file which includes licenses and where the code came from - which can be autogenerated with a script if you're importing from well known sources like CPAN.…
