Installed it on Snow Leopard all tests pass. One strange thing. I took the default prefix of /usr/local and during the install I got a message that there was an installation of Perl at /usr/bin and it was replacing that one. Afterwards I checked...and it did not, it installed to /usr/local. Got my heart beating though.
