Celebration of "Completing 1000th consecutive days releasing to CPAN".

Couple of things I would like to share with fellow Perl Hackers, last month when I posted a blog about completing 1000th consecutive days releasing to CPAN, I talked about releasing new distribution to mark the day. Hence I came up with new distribution Calendar::Hebrew and released on the special day. I was hoping that my new distribution gets the attention of @PerlTricks, monthly series "What's new on CPAN". However as soon as I uploaded the distribution Calendar::Hebrew, I got email notifying the namespace Calendar::Hebrew is already owned by fellow Perl Hacker, "Yitzchak Scott-Thoennes".

I was little disappointed because of this, my new code would not be seen by others, specially @PerlTricks editor. I didn't want to miss the opportunity of getting mentioned in the July series of "What's new on CPAN". I sent an email to the owner and asked if he is planning to release code under the same namespace. To my surprise, I received reply with 24 hours, offering me the namespace. I was over the moon, honestly.

Now there was a little hope that I can still make it. I was asked to remind in a week time if the namespace is still not transferred. A week later, I sent a gentle reminder since the namespace was still owned by "Yitzchak Scott-Thoennes" and hoping for quick turnaround again.

By this time, I started getting nervous of missing the deadline. So I started thinking of something new with an eye to make it to the July series. Easy option was to do one more Calendar. Since I already done few, e.g. Calendar::Bahai, Calendar::Gregorian, Calendar::Hijri, Calendar::Persian and Calendar::Saka, I was not sure what is left now. Then came the idea, there is still one missing i.e. Julian Calendar. I started working on it
and quickly released it. on time.

Now the wait started for the publication of July series of "What's new on CPAN" and see if "Calendar::Julian" has made it or not.

To my surprise, yesterday I saw Twitter post about the publication of July series of "What's new on CPAN". When I saw "Calendar::Julian" appeared there in the list, I was so relieved and happy.

What is the next challenge? Don't know at the moment. I will take a break for now.
