  Git repositories of distzilla based packages are not usable for rpm packaging. I often just add rpm spec file to repository and build rpm-package from git clone. To build such rpm-package i'll need to pollute my custom rpm-repository with hundreds...

  install/run/rpm-pack the module. Git copy is not suitable for this. Git copy is only for authoring (yes, and to submit patch).

  If you, as a user, need to install a git snapshot of a project hosted
  at GitHub, you can use https://undzilit4.me/ for that and you don't
  need to bother about all the plugins. It's not equivalent to "git
  clone", but you get what you want.

  I'd suggest releasing 1.04 to CPAN straight away. As you're not the maintainer, it won't be officially indexed, so people won't be able to install it using:

  cpan Event::Lib
  

  Instead they'll need to install it like:

  cpan CRUX/Event-Lib-1.04.tar.gz
  

  Then, if you become maintainer later you can re-release as 1.05 and it will be indexed. Or if Tassilo von Parseval re-appears, he'll be able to pick up maintenance using your fixed version as a base for his next release.
