Posted Keeping a Reasonable Number of Incremental Backups to mo
My servers are backed up using a little script that works just like Apple's TimeMachine. Every day a backup job moves the latest backup to a folder named by the date of its creation and creates a new backup in the folder

Commented on Filtering CPAN results by release date
metacpan uses ElasticSearch which uses Lucene. So https://metacpan.org/search?q=template+file.date%3A%5B2012+TO+NOW%5D just works. See http://lucene.apache.org/core/oldversioneddocs/versions/291/queryparsersyntax.html for more and http://api.metacpan.org/file/_mapping for available fields....

Commented on Exciting updates to MetaCPAN
Hi Matthias, the tool is called Munin and it monitors all kinds of stuff. I set it ups so that it requests metacpan.org/recent every five minutes....

Commented on Introducing metacpan.org - A better search for the CPAN
Hi Ben, thanks for your feedback. Regarding the page flickering, can you tell me on which OS/browser this is happening? I don't see it with Firefox or Chrome. Cheers, mo...

Commented on Introducing metacpan.org - A better search for the CPAN
Hi John, search.metacpan.org is an early prototype for a JS-only interface for the API. We decided to work on a new front-end that doesn't rely on javascript. While the JS-only approach is nice, there a several problems with it. Site...

I'm very excited to announce the front end for MetaCPAN: metacpan.org. This is what you can expect from the new interface to the CPAN:

Commented on GitHub-like activity indicator for authors and distributions
There have been some significant changes to MetaCPAN. search.metacpan.org still relies on the old/current api which can be found at api.metacpan.org. The new api is currently in a beta phase and available at api.beta.metacpan.org. beta.metacpan.org provides a more conservative and...

Posted GitHub-like activity indicator for authors and distributions to mo
(Note: open the post to see the indicators. blogs.perl.org doesn't show them on the summary page)
Indexing the whole CPAN to the beta version of MetaCPAN just finished. Here is one example of what you can do with the data available from MetaCPAN:

As you might have heard, my MetaCPAN project has been accepted for the Google Summer of Code. If you are unfamiliar with the proposal, you can find it here.

What will MetaCPAN offer that other services don’t?
- Instant availability (new uploads are indexed within a minute)

Commented on Perl.com - initial relaunch
I was just looking at http://www.google.de/search?num=50&q=site%3Awww.perl.com and only 2 of the first ten results don't deliver a 404. Seems like these URLs are dead already....

Commented on Perl.com - initial relaunch
I'd say either perl.org or perl.com has to go. Redirect perl.com to perl.org and nobody is confused anymore. Why do we need two separate pages about perl? Where from the domain name alone nobody can tell the difference in content....

Exciting updates to MetaCPAN
Oh, it downloads it because the link is to "api.metcpan.org" so that makes sense...
Then trying to log in again does indeed log me in.
So it works... but could use a little polish.

It's looking good, and I haven't had any performance hiccups with yet today.
Good job, and thank you. :)

I'm having similar experience to Randy with uppercase vs. lowercase PAUSE IDs and opened a ticket: https://github.com/CPAN-API/metacpan-web/issues/115

Nice!
Just a question: how do you monitor your sites performance and create that graph?

It works but was a little confused when presented with a json payload when I followed the link in the email.
Nice work
