A good friend has noted that she started getting a lot more done on things she cares about when she cut out participating in things that made her angry or upset. I think this is a good idea.

I was asked "why try to make a technical change to solve a social problem?". I answered the question. I allowed myself to get angry when the line I used as the title was posted; I should have simply walked away at that point.
Was the social problem "people are jerks on the internet", or more nuanced than that?
More that I contradicted their belief that everything's perfectly fine at Perlmonks, and I think they didn't like it.
