Is Perlmonks Dead?

Every 8-12'ish months I get sentimental/nostalgic over the good 'old days. I'll head over to CPAN and look at the latest releases investigate a few projects, maybe even make a contribution. I'll then head over to Perlmonks to see what's going on.

Well yesterday, and still today all I see is a fastly "Opps, something went wrong" screen. Is Perlmonks dead? The title of the page is "Client Challenge" so I hope that it's some fastly issue and not that the plug has been pulled on PM.

No, Perlmonks is not dead, but currently, there are some problems with the Fastly WAF. Fastly are investigating and then we can enable the WAF again.

You need Javascript nowadays to access Perlmonks without being logged in, once that Fastly issue is resolved again.

The reason for the site unavailability was a surprising interaction between the WAF and the plain cache. The client challenges (which should be per-client) were cached for all.

You might need to purge the cache in your browser if the problem persists.

Sadly, I'm blocked from perlmonks again today, as has been the case most of the time for a couple weeks. I'll keep trying each day. And some days, like today, I can get access by going to one of the secondary pages, like meditations or cool uses for perl. That is working for me today and now.
