I'm Perl Programmer. I LOVE Perl. I want to contribute Perl community and Perl users.
If it's a private, not official branch, but mentioned in the mailing list, don't you think that's where it should have been left? Not everyone here is on the mailing list. Perhaps it is not ready for public consumption.
I'm worried that something private will suddenly become official.
If many Perl users know, they should be able to react to branch changes.
The Perl Core Team meeting does not appear to have lasted on August 18th.

If their enthusiasm for Perl 7 is diminishing, I'd like a lower cost upgrade to maintain full backwards compatibility.
