Perl Driver Engineer

New York, NY or Palo Alto, CA

You will be the voice of Perl, on both the MongoDB internal team and within the broader MongoDB community. You will be responsible for supporting MongoDB in the Perl ecosystem through driver development, integration with open source tools, community support, and developer.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and support the Perl driver for MongoDB
  • Create and contribute to open source applications and libraries
  • Advocate the adoption of MongoDB to the broader Perl developer community
  • Evangelize our developer products in person and online by presenting at conferences, blogging, writing technical tutorials, and other similar activities

Requirements

  • Strong experience programming in and a passion for Perl
  • Some experience writing Perl C extensions using XS / perlguts
  • Active participant and contributor to open source
  • Considerable success as a software developer, architect, or consultant working with web or data processing technologies

Nice to Haves

  • Experience with MongoDB and the Perl driver a big plus
  • Experience publishing to CPAN a big plus
  • Experience with the Moose object system
  • Some experience with other dynamic typed programming languages like Ruby or Python
  • Experience blogging and writing technical articles on Perl
