Commented on The Perl Conference in Riga
For some reason, you and Leila were not invisible to me. Well, in real life, we did not meet, but online, we did. I followed some of your life from the sideline. I admire you two (three, I should not...

Commented on YAML and more at the Perl Toolchain Summit 2019
It's always a pleasure to take care of the needs of the vegans, vegetarians, allergics, picky, and the others. Finding the right stuff is always a challenge. And you are always so grateful, it is so nice to see you...

Commented on RPerl at YAPC Europe - Day 3
Thanks! Indeed, also non-programmers can be charmed by Perl, and be helpful to the ideals of open source and the ideals of Perl....

Commented on RPerl at YAPC Europe - Day 2
Well, as it turned out, you did know what you were talking about! And you are a wonderful public speaker, and you know it... :-)...

Commented on RPerl at YAPC Europe - Day 1
I indeed somewhat forced you on stage, and you did admirably. Thank you for attending The Perl Conference, representing RPerl, speaking, doing marketing, and being a fun neighbour to my booth....

Commented on My First Perl Conference
I didn't write my reaction to provoke a thanks by you. Just wanted to let you know that I saw you, like who you are, hugged you, and did not notice you needed more hugs, and maybe needed some more...

Commented on My First Perl Conference
Excellent blog, thanks! I now know I did not hug you enough, and did not chat with you enough. I thought you were damn butch and now I see you just were posing. Well done... And it was very nice...

Commented on Cancellation of Perl 6 Constants and Rationals Grant
I would not mind re-purposing the grant into the actions Zoffix wrote above. Maybe not what was proposed, but still very useful....

Commented on My Perl Conference in Amsterdam Takeaway
Thanks, mephinet. I'm a member of Amsterdam.PM since before it was called that way (in the nineties, it was just a semi-regular "monthly" meeting of Perl programmers from Amsterdam and surroundings), and of AmsterdamX.PM since I knew of its existance,...

Commented on My Perl Conference in Amsterdam Takeaway
Re: "Thanks a lot for organizing the conference, AmsterdamX.pm, I'm looking forward to seeing you all in Glasgow." The conference was organised by members of both Amsterdam.PM and AmsterdamX.PM. I am a member of both. Happy you liked it. See...

Commented on Christmas Came, Bah Humbug
I cannot give you an immediate business case to switch to Perl 6, but I can address some of your points. Perl 6 has the module Inline::Perl5 that allows you to use virtually all code from Perl 5 inside Perl...

Commented on Suspending efforts on my #riba2016 crowdfunding campaign, looking forward to my own Xmas
I look back on many meetings with you, formal, informal, and otherwise. Most of the meetings taught me that you are very smart, and often not very diplomatic. Not being diplomatic does not mean that you weren't right. I am...

Commented on Perl 6 lives!
I want to add: Thank you Damian for your hundreds (maybe thousands) of hours of work to help with the design and implementation of Perl 6, and furthermore to make examples, and to make and present your presentations all over...

Posted Marketing for Perl is easy because Perl is awesome to Wendy
Liz and I were awarded the White Camel Award last year and are very proud of that. Thank you all. Too much honor, and I feel a bit silly now. No modules on CPAN, not a member of any Perl-organisation, not a single line of code written in the past 9 years, and mainly being silly and loud.

Commented on Damage control is not quality assurance
Using a hotel is a great idea. Certainly when it is within the budget. But remember, even when you let the hotel take care of breakfast, lunch, dinner and inbetween snacks (ow budget again), they might not accomodate for all...

Commented on The 2013 White Camels
Liz and Wendy are honoured but still think they did not do enough Perl to deserve this award. But thank you very much. And Wendy says sorry for all the cheating....
